An intending candidate for the Vura Ward in Honiara says Vura is becoming a city, and changes has to be done to its roads and other infrastructure.
Chief Robert Satu told SIBC News this week, he grew up at Fishing Village and as a boy, he witnessed the Vura ward area transform from being a food garden area, into a housing estate with a proper road.
Chief Satu said today, Vura is becoming a city with a very big population – yet its roads, clinics and housing estate has not kept up with this growth.
He also said a main issue for Fishing village is safety for their children from vehicles on the main road.
“I’ve been at the fishing village for quite a while and seeing these things happening, like increasing population, bringing up a new generation and being part of the Vura ward, we need improvements more especially in infrastructure and having a secure environment.”
SIBC News understands the Honiara City Council elections will be held later this month.
