Leader of Opposition Hon Mathew Wale
Leader of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale has welcomed government efforts to revitalize the Public Works Department (PWD).
In a statement today, Hon Wale said revitalising the PWD was one of the things he has always encouraged successive governments to prioritize.
The Opposition Leader has commended the Minister for Infrastructure and Development Hon Manasseh Maelanga for leading his ministry on this important policy.
“I must acknowledge the Minister and his team. It is a long time coming and the right way forward,” he said.
Hon Wale said the re-establishment of PWD would ensure quality, reliability and monitoring of our roads.
The Opposition Leader urged the Ministry of Infrastructure Development to also support Honiara City Council PWD to maintain feeder roads.
“The Opposition fully supports this and hopes to see its successful re-establishment,” Hon Wale said.
