A whole society approach is the only way to address family violence in Solomon Islands.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare made the statement during the National Conference on Family Violence conducted by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force today.
The workshop brings together frontline officers from all provinces to discuss plans to eliminate family violence in the country.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said, a whole society approach is the only way to address family violence in Solomon Islands.
He adds the place to start addressing family violence is in individual homes.
“And so politicians have spoken and come up with a legislation. There is only one way of addressing this issue and as I said it has to be addressed through a whole society approach and I think the place to start is at home.”
The National Conference on Family Violence for Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Officers began on Monday and will end on Friday.
