A woman from Falamai village in Shortland islands , Western Province has died after a ngali nut tree fell on top of her house yesterday.
Strong winds reportedly swept through the village in the afternoon, causing the rotting tree to fall on top of the roof.
The deceased was inside the house with her sister and their children at the time.
A relative told SIBC Online this morning, a branch from the tree fell through the house and inflicted serious injuries.
She died not long after.
Two young children including the deceased’s and her sister, also sustained injuries.
The reports said she was not able to receive immediate medical attention at the time, because the village nurse was in Nila attending a workshop.
