World Vision Solomon Islands (WVSI) is moving forward on a long awaited maternal health project in Temotu Province.
The project is a continuation of World Vision’s national strategy on Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN).
It aims to improve nutrition and healthcare in Temotu using a system of Village Health Volunteers (VHV) in coordination with Village Health Committees.
It will also link pregnant women and newborns with medical services.
World Vision Country Director Janes Ginting says, World Vision has spent a long time working to implement a MCHN project in Temotu, now with support from UNICEF it can finally go ahead.
Meanwhile, UNICEF Pacific is extremely delighted to move this partnership with World Vision forward to ensure basic maternal, child health and nutrition services are made accessible to mothers and children in remote areas of Temotu Province.
