Youths in the country must be engaged in programs and activities that will enable them to make important decisions that will benefit the country.
Culture and Tourism Minister Bartholomew Parapolo made the statement yesterday when he officiated the opening of the International Museum Day.
Minister Parapolo says young people make up more than fifty percent of Solomon Islands total population and are the country’s future leaders and decision makers.
“As we know our students and youth are an important part of our society since they comprise more than 50 percent of our total population. They will be our future leaders and decision-makers in the country. It is, therefore, important to engage them in activities and programs that will enable them to make choices and decisions for the better Solomon Islands. We have to act now, not tomorrow because it will be late.”
The Culture and Tourism Minister also says Solomon Islands youths must be involved in the important processes of development and nation building.
“It is also important ladies and gentlemen that our youth and students understand the process of development and nation building. They must start to be included in our decision-makings, embrace our collective effort of nation-building, deciding on the future of our children and be owners of our development endeavors.”
