Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga says the actions of youths during the Julian Marley concert last week will discourage potential foreign investors.
Up to forty-one young men were arrested on Wednesday last week, following a violent clash between the police and people who did not want to pay to see the young Marley in concert, at the Panatina Grounds in East Honiara.
Police and security officers at the event were stoned, and fences were torn down by the youths.
The Police then launched an all-out operation which saw the arrest of the young men.
On Thursday last week, the Acting Commissioner Matanga says the display of criminal attitudes during international events will reduce the country’s chances of securing foreign investors and international guests into the country.
“When we have encounter this sort of international icon coming into the country and we express such behaviours, it will discourage people to come into our country. And the more we have this sort of behaviour in our society, it will reduce the number of investors coming into this country. It will reduce the number of international guests that will help to increase the economy of this country”, said the police commissioner.
