International visitation to Solomon Islands for the period January to December 2015 increased from 20, 061 in 2014 to 21, 623.
This is a growth of 7.8 percent.
The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau says a total of 9, 509 Australian visitors have been recorded for the 12 months period representing a 4.10 percent increase over 2014 and accounting for 43.9 percent of the 2015 total.
It says New Zealand jumped into the number two spot to 1, 451 figure recorded for 2015 marking a 3.2 percent increase over the 1, 243 recorded in 2014.
The US, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji arrivals also showed positive growth, figures increasing by 24.2 percent, 7.8 percent, and 10.8 percent, respectively.
Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau Chief Executive Officer, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto attributed the positive result through the efforts of the national tourist office in all key source markets across 2015.
Mr. Tuamoto says this is due to the hard work in creating a profile for the Solomon Islands with our industry colleagues and Solomon Airlines to perpetuate awareness for the destination.
