At the invitation of the Government of Solomon Islands, the Republic of China, Taiwan, Navy Midshipmen Cruising Training Squadron will be arriving in Honiara this weekend. The Squadron consists of three vessels, with 789 Navy officers, sailors and midshipmen onboard.

Nine vessels were washed ashore during the recent bad weather in Honiara, says the Acting Director of the Solomon Islands Maritime and Safety Captain Tim Harris. Speaking to the local media today Captain Harris says four of the vessels were re-floated while five are still on the beach.
