The Correctional Services of Solomon Islands, CSSI, has opened eight of its new staff houses under a ten years program today.
The new houses were managed by Reeves International under the RAMSI Solomon Islands Infrastructure partnership facility with the CSSI Infrastructure team.
Speaking during the opening, Minister of Police and Correctional Services Chris Laore thanked the Australian government for funding the new houses which allow CSSI to perform to the highest standard.
“The construction of these houses was funded by DFAT and for that I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Australian Government for the continuous support in ensuring that the CSSI is capable of performing at the highest standard.”
Meanwhile, CSSI Commissioner Francis Haisoma says the houses provide quality and affordable accommodation to officers and their families.
Mr Haisoma says the new houses will support officers to maintain a healthy and balanced living between work and home life.
“And so with the strong support from the National Government and our donors we see today that the housing construction progress for the CSSI is continuing to prove officers and their families with good quality affordable housing. CSSI must never forget the contribution the members of the correctional officers family make towards maintaining a healthy balanced between work and home life.”
The project was funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, DFAT, under the Australian Aid Program.
It involves the construction of eight new staff houses, five at the Tetere station and three at the Naha CSSI Housing compound.
