A breast cancer specialist team from Melbourne, Australia will arrive in the country next week.
The Australian High Commission Office says the program is managed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and funded by the Australian Government.
It provides a range of medical services and training opportunities in the Pacific region.
It says two doctors will work closely with national personnel at the National Referral Hospital.
The statement adds the doctors will be here to assist Solomon Islands National Referral Hospital personnel further their skills in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer and other breast abnormalities.
This specialist training visit comes in response to a Ministry of Health request for upskilling in this important area of cancer care.
This is the first visit of its kind to be delivered by the Pacific Islands Program, which regularly delivers clinical visits to the Solomon Islands in other medical specialties.
The team will be here from the 16-19 February.
