“IUMI TOK ABAOTIM” PEACE PROGRAM 2014 LAUNCHED

Mr. Rukale says the objective of the program is to advocate for peace through communicating with the general population of Solomon Islands.

“The objective of the ITAP program is to advocate for peace through communicating with the general populace of Solomon Islands. By doing so, it is hopped to contribute to the prevention of conflict and ultimately will lead to the overarching objective of a peaceful, stable, united and prosperous Solomon Islands. The mode of communicating peace in the ITAP program includes radio awareness and drama activities that would be aired over the local AM radio, the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation and the distribute of leaflets, posters and stickers to schools.”

He said posters will also be distributed to government ministries, NGO offices and the general public as well as putting up peace billboards.

SIBC News understands the Solomon Islands Development Trust, SIDT, is being engaged to produce radio awareness and drama programs that will run twice a week starting this month until December this year, which will be done in episodes.
