Our Telekom is expanding its mobile network catchments in Malaita Province with the construction of new towers.
The telecommunication company is currently constructing two new 50 meter towers at Ohapu in West Are’are and Raehora in the East Are’are region.
SIBC Stringer Gabriel Riotarau says a local company called Millennium is currently building both towers that should enable a 3G network reception in the area.
With the tower constructions, Mr Riotarau says the company is meeting its plans to provide communications services throughout Solomon Islands by 2018.
“This expansion of infrastructure for Our Telekom is important to do coverage in terms of their time frame for 2018. The infrastructure once completed will also ensure TV coverage throughout the country.”
