Police in Noro

Police presence in Munda and Noro in Western Province remains high as officers continue to provide security during the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders’ Retreat.
Commander in charge of the Western Province PIF Retreat, Mathias Lenialu, said he is pleased to see that law and order have been maintained and that local communities are working closely with the police to ensure peace and harmony during the gathering of Pacific leaders.
He said the police will continue their presence and called on the people of Munda and Noro to maintain their cooperation so that the leaders can truly experience the peace and hospitality of the Western Province and leave with fond memories of their time here.
Commander Lenialu added that police will continue to provide security until the leaders depart for Honiara tomorrow and urges everyone to maintain good behavior until the end of the retreat.
Meanwhile, a vehicle handover ceremony will be held tomorrow in Noro before the leaders visit the SolTuna cannery.
The vehicles, which were used during the PIF meetings in Munda and Noro, will be officially handed over by the Prime Minister’s Office to the Western Province Premier for use by ministerial departments in the province.
After the tour of the cannery, the leaders will proceed to the Marina Hotel and then travel directly to Munda Airport for their return flight to Honiara.
