Twenty officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have received formal approval to undergo training to serve in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.
Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga confirmed at a press conference the twenty officers received formal approval to undergo a four weeks training under the RAMSI International Deployment Group Program.
Deputy Commissioner Matanga said only successful officers will qualify for the UN Mission.
She says it is paramount that Police officers are exposed to international experiences that will benefit the country.
“We must continue to be exposed to International arena. We cannot keep our officers within their own environment. We need to change the way we do business so that our Police officers to experience different things within their career and give them the opportunity to come back and improve our workforce.”
This will be the first time for Solomon Islands to serve in any UN Peacekeeping Mission.
