A rare bird species has for the first time been identified and photographed on Guadalcanal.
Described as ‘beautiful but very cryptic’ the mustached Kingfisher is found in the mountainous forests of the “sky island” of Guadalcanal Chris Filardi, director of Pacific Programs at the American Museum of Natural History’s Center for Biodiversity and Conservation says, it is hard to believe the mustached kingfisher is a real bird.
Mr. Filardi says the bird looks more like a toy than bird.
