Australia and Solomon Islands today signed an agreement of about SBD$377,000,000.00 over four years (2017 to 2020) for the Solomon Islands Health Sector.
The Australian funding will assist in the delivery of essential health services in Solomon Islands, focusing on improved primary health care and a stronger health system.
Australian High Commissioner Rod Brazier said Australia is very proud to continue their support to the Solomon Islands health sector.
He said improving the health and well-being of Solomon Islanders continue to be a key priority for the Australian aid program in Solomon Islands.
High Commissioner Brazier adds the Solomon Islands Government, with Australian support, has already made a huge gain in improving the health and well-being of Solomon Islanders.
An example is a decrease of malaria incidence to 75 percent over the past decade, and the availability of essential medicines at primary health care facilities has increased from 53 percent to 74
per cent.
