SIWIBA pledges stronger collaboration with Government

The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) has reassured Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele and the Government of its commitment to promoting and expanding business opportunities for Solomon Islands women.

The SIWIBA Board conveyed this assurance to Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele during a courtesy visit. 

SIWIBA Board President, Julie (Gegeu) Haro, said that with the right type and level of support, SIWIBA can inspire women to realise their full potential, recognising their importance and women representing half of our national population, and to ensure their voices are increasingly heard and acknowledged in Solomon Islands society.

Mrs. Haro revealed that the organisation’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 is being finalised and will soon be launched. The major pillars of the five-year plan include membership growth, market access, governance strengthening, and export development.

Prime Minister Manele acknowledged and appreciated SIWIBA’s commitment to training and upskilling women in business across the country.

The Prime Minister said that once launched, SIWIBA’s programmes and activities should align with the Strategic Plan and add value to the organisation’s partnership with the private sector and Government.

He added that empowering women means empowering communities and contributing to family economic stability.

The Prime Minister encouraged SIWIBA to continue playing its role in national development and to work closely with the relevant line ministries such as the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration and the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs where necessary.

The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) was registered under the Charitable Act in December 2004, making it a non-profit organisation. 

Its mission is to promote, develop, and empower women’s participation as business owners in the private sector.
