The Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui has encouraged all Solomon Islanders to allow their lands for investment.
His Excellency Kabui made the statement during his 2016 New Year Address.
Sir Kabui says, investment cannot hang in the air.
“We need to provide land, investments do not grow on trees. Land must be available and secure. Our land must be released for development. Government alone cannot just provide jobs out of the sky, it needs land, give it. Do not hold it back. It will be either bought or rented. There will be benefits for the landowner.”
The Governor General says the Government can only do so much within its power when land is available.
He stresses, more educated and qualified people will have no job if employment opportunity is not available for the growing population.
