Parts of Western Province are without Telekom reception after the main tower at Jah Mountain was vandalised this afternoon.
Gizo Telekom team leader Titus Kulingu told Radio Happy Lagoon a person armed with a bush knife aggressively broke into the premises; chased the security and destroyed the main feeder.
The main feeder provides coverage for Noro, Munda and Gizo.
Mr. Kulingu confirms that some of the communication services for Noro, Munda and Gizo will be affected over the next 24 to 48 hours.
He says Telekom engineers are currently mobilised and are doing their best to restore the service.
Meanwhile the Provincial Police Commander for Western Province, John Rove has cautioned people to keep their children indoors as the offender is armed and is still at large.
Mr Rove also urged the public to report any information that will help police locate the man.
