Solomon Islands National Football coach, Felipe Vega Arango says his team is aiming for a win against the All Whites in the last World Cup qualifier leg tomorrow.
Despite a heavy defeat against New Zealand last week, Mr Arango said he was optimistic about creating history tomorrow.
He said Solomon Islands had never beaten New Zealand, and a win tomorrow would show progress in the development of football in the country.
Solomon Islands needs to win 5-0, or have a goal difference of six, to progress to the next round following Friday night’s 6-1 defeat.
Arango said the last game was ridden with avoidable mistakes, which the team would work on ahead of the game.
He said a number of changes were expected for the game tomorrow, with Micah Lea’alafa and James Naka expected to be recalled.
“Our aim is to win, simple as that, ” he said. “If we beat them tomorrow, it will be history seeing that an amateur side has beaten a professional side
Arango also revealed left back Robert Laua has been ruled out of the game after contracting malaria, and Clifton Aumae is expected to make the starting lineup.
