Two women have been detained on fraud-related charges – committed at two different times and incidents. One suspect, a Guadalcanal woman from Vobvota Village, was arrested after she deposited a total of $133,829.17 to two different account holders at a bank in Point Cruz.
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of raping a mentally-ill woman at the Honiara Magistrate area just this month. It is believed the accused forced the woman with a knife and raped her. Police reports show the victim had knife wounds to her left back.
A man accused of stealing $7.3 million of a $10 million health fund has appeared in the Honiara Magistrates Court. He is 45-years old John Biliki, from Choisuel Province who is the second accused involved in the $10 million scandal within the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
