LOCKDOWN OPERATION COMMENCES
A 36-hours total lockdown for Honiara Emergency Zone has commenced as of 6 pm this evening (Wednesday 20th May). The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has started the operations to enforce the COVID-19 lockdown in the declared Emergency Zone from Poha to Alligator Creek this morning.

Ten thousand dollars and five years imprisonment is the penalty for breaching this week’s total lockdown. A total lockdown is schedualed for 6pm this coming Wednesday to 6am Friday within the Honiara Emergency Zone, (Poha to Alligator Creek).

The proposed simulation lockdown has been approved by the Cabinet and is scheduled for next week. The Timing will be made known soon, once the lockdown details are finalized. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare confirmed this during his weekly COVID-19 nationwide address.

Business entities that were temporarily closed under the Emergency Powers (Covid-19) Regulations 2020 have been re-opened. The exception is for night clubs within the emergency zone, which will remain closed untill further notice.
