The Special Representative of the United Nations General-Secretary on Violence Against Children Ms Marta Santos Pais has said it is now time UN scale up its work in Solomon Islands. Ms Santos Pais made the remark last week during a three days visit to the country.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has praised the Family Protection Act saying the Act has made major inroads to addressing the issue of violence against children in a family setting.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast has discussed ways to better combat family violence and violence against children in Solomon Islands with the visiting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children. The Police Commissioner met with Marta Santos Pais yesterday.
