A false tsunami warning disseminated to members of the public at midday today has caused great fear and confusion in Honiara. SIBC News today witnessed people running from Honiara coastlines to higher grounds.
All strong wind and heavy rain warnings have now been cancelled for the country. The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services issued the cancellation as of 7am this morning. It said the strong wind warning previously enforced for Solomon Islands waters is now cancelled.
