Marovo carvers travel to Port Villa
About two hundred male and female Marovo carvers and weavers are on their way onboard MV Fair Lady to Port Villa, Vanuatu, to showcase and sell their products. This was made possible through the network of the sister city relationship Honiara City Council and Port Villa Municipal Authority.

A famous composer and musician of Roviana died at his home early this morning. Ronald Bei Langono Talasasa was 85. He was the composer of many songs in the Roviana language several of which are still sung when Roviana people gather for celebrations.

Honorable David Gina, MPA for Munda-Lambete has been declared the new Western Province Premier. Mr Gina polled 15 votes while his opponent Honorable Ramuraka Talasasa, polled 11 votes. Provincial Clerk Kevin Paia said the new Premier took his oath after the election.

A woman from Falamai village in Shortland islands , Western Province has died after a ngali nut tree fell on top of her house yesterday. Strong winds reportedly swept through the village in the afternoon, causing the rotting tree to fall on top of the roof.
