Dahui Kalsa performing at the Cultural Dance Festival Competition at Multi-Purpose Hall

Dahui Kalsa panpipers secured the first place of the cultural dance festival competition hosted by the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) held in Honiara yesterday.
Known for their unique blend of traditional bamboo orchestra music, the Dahui Kalsa Panpiper group is considered one of the few surviving traditional music from Makira Ulawa Province.
Formed in the 1970s by Arthur Oroi of Tawatana Village in Arosi 1, the group has maintained a strong cultural presence and continues to attract widespread admiration.
Organizers of the festival said the festival served as a pilot initiative aimed at creating more opportunities for youth-focused cultural activities in the future.
Dahui Kalsa and other selected participants will travel to South Korea next year to represent the Solomon Islands at an International Youth Fellowship Cultural event.
