Prime Minister acknowledges PAC and Parliamentary Groups for work on 2026 budget

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele today in Parliament thanked the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Members of Parliament from the Opposition and Independent groups for their work in scrutinizing the 2026 Budget through the PAC.

PM Manele moved a special motion to adjourn Parliament to Monday, 1 December 2025, to give MPs sufficient time to review the PAC report before debating the 2026 Appropriation Bill. 

The PAC is winding up its report after hearings over the past week, with the final group scheduled to appear tomorrow.

Prime Minister Manele commended the PAC Chairman and members for their thorough work and acknowledged the contributions of all parliamentary groups in the budget scrutiny process.

“That will give all of us sufficient time to look at recommendations in the PAC report so that we can adequately respond during the Appropriation Bill debate or when it comes to the Committee of the Whole House,” PM Manele said.

Prime Minister Manele also thanked officials and staff involved in the work of the 2026 Budget.

Parliament will resume on Monday, 1 December 2025.
