Waneoroa resigns from IPAC, reaffirms support for National Unity

The Minister for Rural Development and Member of Parliament for North Malaita, Hon. Daniel S. Waneoroa, has officially announced his resignation from the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), as part of his decision to support the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) and contribute to national political stability.

In a formal statement issued today, Minister Waneoroa confirmed that he submitted a letter dated 8th May 2025 revoking his membership and stepping down as one of the core co-chairpersons of IPAC.

The Minister stated that his decision was made in the interest of fostering stability and aligning with a collective national vision under the GNUT leadership.

“This decision reflects my personal conviction and unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability,” Hon. Waneoroa stated.

He acknowledged the value of his experience with IPAC but emphasized that the current political landscape demands leadership that is responsive and united.

“As the Party Leader of the UMI FO CHANGE Political Party, and Minister for Rural Development, I believe that aligning with GNUT is not only about policies, but about building a just, equitable, and prosperous Solomon Islands,” he added.

Minister Waneoroa further reaffirmed his commitment to working in partnership with all bilateral development partners and stakeholders to deliver transformative change in rural areas and contribute meaningfully to national development efforts.

“I remain committed to fostering collective growth and supporting initiatives that drive progress and deliver tangible benefits for our people,” he said.

The Government welcomes the Minister’s renewed focus on unity and collaboration, and remains committed to inclusive leadership that serves the best interests of all Solomon Islanders. GNUT is committed to the One China principle and recognizes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China.
