A pan-pipe music festival is set to be staged on Small Malaita, Malaita Province on the 15th of June. The “Ngarataniau Panpipe Musik Festival” aims to promote and enhance cultural heritage and identity.
Associated bad weather with Cyclone Pam has caused severe damage to food gardens in Kware, Malaita Province. A David Auga reports, heavy rains caused major flooding and wiped out food gardens. “We live between two rivers here in Kware, big Kware and small Kware.
Communities in Malaita Province have reported considerable damage following cyclone Pam. In Fataleka, East Malaita, Church Minister Patrick Bisili reports, several kitchen huts were blown away by the strong wind.
Tropical Cyclone Pam has claimed food gardens and homes on West Kwaio, Malaita province. David Gosia from West Kwaio reports, most food gardens along the Kwaisisi and Bina rivers have been swept away by flooding. Mr Gosia said a total of 15 houses were destroyed by cyclone Pam’s wrath.
Strong winds and rough seas have forced Kiu community school in West Are’are to suspend classes this week. John Keni reports the school suspended its classes since Tuesday this week. He says the school authority made that decision to ensure its students safety.
