The Solomon Islands Maritime Safety Administration (SIMSA) is in the process of drafting a new National Shipping Bill. SIMSA Director, Captain Tim Harris confirms to SIBC News. Mr Harris says, the new Shipping Bill and its regulation will be in conformity with each other.

Tropical Cyclone Pam, currently Northeast of Anuta Island in Temotu Province, has been forecasted to continue to develop as it travels south. Director of Meteorology, David Hiriasia confirms the Cyclone is still within Solomon Islands regions and is still a Category Two cyclone.

DRIFTING VESSEL BIRTHED SAFELY AT MANIKALAKU, MARAU
Passengers and crew of MV Freedom, which had drifted since 1pm yesterday while on a return trip to Honiara, have arrived safely at Marau Sound, in Northeast Guadalcanal today. The vessel had drifted on its way back to Honiara from Makira Ulawa Province after encountering a mechanical problem.

NINE VESSELS WASHED ASHORE IN RECENT BAD WEATHER
Nine vessels were washed ashore during the recent bad weather in Honiara, says the Acting Director of the Solomon Islands Maritime and Safety Captain Tim Harris. Speaking to the local media today Captain Harris says four of the vessels were re-floated while five are still on the beach.
